GradeNeeded is built for students at every level — high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral — who need clear answers quickly and a better place to organize academic work. The platform includes a semester assignment planner, AI-powered study tools, grade calculators, GPA tracking, a syllabus scanner, degree progress tracking, a semester schedule builder, Google Calendar sync, Canvas LMS integration, due date reminders (email and browser push), and Geno — an AI-powered study and planning assistant.
More than one-time calculators
Calculators help answer quick grade questions, but the planner is designed for longer-term use. Students can organize classes, add assignments, track progress, update statuses, and plan what to work on next. New users are walked through a guided setup when they first open the planner. The Syllabus Scanner lets you upload a course syllabus PDF and automatically creates the class — assignments, due dates, grade weights, grading scale, late policy, office hours, and more. Canvas LMS integration (Settings → Integrations) lets students connect their Canvas account to automatically import courses and assignments into the planner — GradeNeeded reads from Canvas but never writes back. The live grade forecast shows every class card what score you need on remaining assignments to hit your target grade (A, B, C, or D) — it updates instantly as you enter grades and switch targets. The grade trend charts on the dashboard show whether each class grade is improving or declining over the semester. Calendar sync exports your planner due dates to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or any iCal app — automatically refreshing every 6 hours. Daily email reminders notify you about assignments due tomorrow, and browser push notifications can alert you even when GradeNeeded is not open — both toggleable from Settings. The semester schedule builder lets you map out your full class schedule, and the degree progress tracker helps you stay on top of credit requirements and graduation milestones.
Geno AI — flashcards, practice tests, and study coaching
Geno is GradeNeeded's AI study assistant. It helps you understand material, create flashcard sets, generate practice questions, and plan your study sessions. Free users start with 20 Geno messages per day — maintaining a study streak earns bonus daily messages (up to +20/day at a 30-day streak). Premium users can upload PDFs and PowerPoints for Geno to analyze. Ultra users get advanced reasoning mode and textbook scanning for deeper academic support.
Community study sets
The community library at /study/community is a public collection of student-created study sets. Students can browse by subject, copy any public deck to their own library, and study it with all of Geno's study modes. Publishing a study set makes it publicly visible to all GradeNeeded users. Community content is subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.
A connected student community
GradeNeeded includes a social layer built for students. Share academic wins on the feed, connect with friends, and view public profiles. All social content is optional and privacy-controlled — you choose what to share and with whom.
Accounts, cloud, and subscriptions
GradeNeeded brings all tools into one connected product. Accounts are handled through Clerk. Cloud saving uses Supabase so your data is available across devices. A free tier is available with daily AI limits. Premium and Ultra subscriptions unlock higher AI message limits, document uploads, and advanced Geno capabilities, billed monthly through Stripe. Browser push notification subscriptions are stored securely and can be removed at any time from Settings. GradeNeeded is also installable as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — tap the install prompt on mobile to add it to your home screen.
