GradeNeeded

Acceptable Use Policy

Rules for using GradeNeeded tools, AI features, accounts, community features, and submitted content responsibly and honestly.

GradeNeeded is a student planning tool. It does not replace your syllabus, instructor, school, official gradebook, or advisor.

Permitted uses

GradeNeeded is designed for students aged 13 and older, educators, and individuals using the site for personal educational planning. GradeNeeded supports students at every education level — high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral. You may use the tools to calculate grades, plan GPA, organize assignments, track deadlines, build study sets, track degree progress, manage your semester schedule, receive due-date reminders, and get AI-assisted study support through Geno. You may connect your Canvas LMS account (Settings → Integrations) to auto-import your courses and assignments into the planner for your own academic organization. You may browse, copy, and publish study sets in the community library for legitimate academic study purposes. You may use the optional social features to share academic wins and connect with other students. Users under 13 are not permitted to create accounts or use GradeNeeded. When choosing a username, high school students (aged 13–17) should not use their real last name, birth year, school name, or any combination that could identify them to a stranger. A username like 'student_reader' is safer than 'JSmith_2010_Lincoln_High.'

Academic integrity

You must not use GradeNeeded or the Geno AI assistant to complete essays, lab reports, assignments, or any work you will submit as your own original work. You must not use Geno to obtain answers during a live exam, quiz, or proctored test. Misrepresenting AI-generated content as your own work violates academic integrity policies at most schools and violates these terms. Geno is a study support tool, not a shortcut for original academic work. GradeNeeded is not responsible for academic consequences resulting from a user's misuse of Geno.

Community and social content rules

If you use GradeNeeded's social features (feed, profiles, friend connections), you must not post harmful, offensive, abusive, illegal, threatening, defamatory, or misleading content. You must not impersonate another person or institution. You must not share another user's private or personally identifiable information without their explicit consent. You must not use community features to harass, bully, stalk, or target other users — including minor users. You must not post content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors in any way. You must not attempt to use information visible on GradeNeeded profiles or posts to identify, locate, or contact a minor in the real world. GradeNeeded moderates community content and may remove posts, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these rules, with or without prior notice.

Personal information and minor safety

You must not share your own or any other person's home address, phone number, full legal name (if a minor), school schedule, real-time location, or other information that could enable someone to locate or contact you or another person in the physical world. High school student users (aged 13–17) are specifically advised not to include identifying personal information in their username, display name, profile, feed posts, or Geno AI messages. GradeNeeded automatically protects high school student school names from public view, but you are responsible for what you voluntarily share in posts and messages. Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring what their minor child shares on the platform. GradeNeeded is not responsible for identifying information that a user voluntarily includes in their content.

FERPA and school records

Do not submit FERPA-protected education records, official transcripts, financial aid records, school-issued documents, or other records protected by educational privacy laws into GradeNeeded. GradeNeeded is not a school or educational institution, and data stored in GradeNeeded is not protected by FERPA. Users — including students and any school staff — must not use GradeNeeded to store or distribute official academic records.

Prohibited uses

You must not scrape, crawl, or automatically collect data from GradeNeeded. You must not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to access the site's source code, infrastructure, or internal systems without authorization. You must not use bots, automated scripts, or tools to access or submit data to GradeNeeded at scale. You must not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation. You must not attempt to bypass subscription gates, rate limits, age requirements, or access controls. You must not use GradeNeeded to distribute spam, malware, phishing content, or unsolicited communications. You must not use GradeNeeded for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

Content and input rules

Do not submit harmful, offensive, illegal, threatening, or defamatory content through any form, planner note, AI message, feed post, community study set, upload, or contact submission. Do not submit other people's private information, credentials, confidential records, official student records, pirated textbooks, or copyrighted content you do not have the right to share or process. Community study sets you publish must contain only content you own or have rights to share — do not publish copyrighted textbook content, exam questions obtained by academic dishonesty, or material that violates your school's academic integrity policy. Canvas integration may only be used with Canvas accounts you personally own and are authorized to access. The planner, AI, upload, community library, and social features are intended for your own schoolwork and legitimate student use.

Account and access rules

Do not share your account credentials or allow others to use your account. Do not create multiple accounts to circumvent limits, bans, or restrictions. Do not attempt to access another user's account or data. Do not attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limits, subscription gates, age requirements, or other access controls on the site.

Enforcement

GradeNeeded reserves the right to investigate, suspend, or permanently terminate access for violations of this policy, with or without prior notice, at GradeNeeded's sole discretion. GradeNeeded may remove any content that violates this policy or that GradeNeeded determines is harmful to the platform or its users. In cases of serious or repeated violations — including any violation involving minors, threats, harassment, stalking, exploitation, or illegal activity — GradeNeeded will take immediate action, including account termination and reporting the matter to relevant authorities, law enforcement, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), or other institutions as required by law or as GradeNeeded deems appropriate. GradeNeeded takes the safety of minor users with the utmost seriousness and will cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations involving minors.

Reporting misuse

If you become aware of misuse of GradeNeeded tools, a community policy violation, content involving minors, harassment, or any issue requiring attention, please report it at support@gradeneeded.com. Reports are taken seriously and help keep the platform safe for all students.
